Privacy Policy

This is an independent app. NELFUND Portal: Loan & Calc is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the Federal Ministry of Education, or the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is an educational guide and calculator. It cannot submit a loan application, check a loan status, or influence any decision.

The short version

This app has no account, no login and no server of its own. It never asks for your NIN, BVN, bank details, password or one-time password. Everything you type into the calculators, tick on the checklist, or bookmark stays on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

The one exception is advertising. The app shows adverts through Google AdMob, and the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects a device advertising identifier in order to serve them. That is described in full below.

1. Information we do not collect

We do not ask for, collect, transmit or store any of the following:

Your name, email address, phone number or postal address
Your National Identification Number (NIN) or Bank Verification Number (BVN)
Your JAMB number, matriculation number or admission details
Bank account details, card details or any financial account information
Passwords, PINs or one-time passwords
Contacts, SMS messages, call logs, photos, files or precise location
Any document or image

The app requests no runtime permissions. It has no access to your camera, storage, contacts, microphone or location.

2. Information stored on your device

The following is written to local storage on your phone only. It is never uploaded, never synced, and never visible to us or to anyone else.

You can erase all of it at any time from Settings → Reset saved progress, or by uninstalling the app.

3. Advertising

This app is free and is paid for by advertising supplied by Google AdMob. To serve adverts, measure them and limit how often you see the same one, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:

Your device advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)
Device information such as model, operating system version and language
Coarse, IP-derived location (country or region level)
Advert interaction events, such as an impression or a click

This data is collected by Google, not by us. We never receive it and we cannot link it to you. Google's handling of it is governed by the Google Privacy & Terms.

Your choices

Where the law requires consent, the app shows a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform before any advert is requested. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time from Settings → Ad privacy choices.
You can reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings, under Settings → Google → Ads. You can also opt out of advert personalisation there.

4. Network requests

The app makes exactly three kinds of outbound request:

Advert configuration. A small JSON file is fetched over HTTPS so adverts can be switched on or off without an app update. The request contains no information about you.
Advert serving. Requests made by the Google Mobile Ads SDK, described above.
Links you tap. When you open an official link, your browser loads that site directly. Whatever happens there is governed by that site's own privacy policy — including NELFUND's.

All app traffic uses HTTPS. Cleartext traffic is disabled at the platform level.

5. Children

This app is directed at adults applying for or repaying higher-education loans, and is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

6. Data retention and deletion

Because no personal data leaves your device, there is nothing for us to retain or delete on a server. Local data is removed when you clear it in Settings or uninstall the app. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, follow Google's own controls linked above.

7. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and comparable laws elsewhere, you have rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability over personal data held about you. Since this app holds no personal data about you on any server, those rights are satisfied by the on-device controls described above. If you believe otherwise, contact us and we will respond.

8. Accuracy of the content

The guidance, figures and calculators in this app are educational estimates based on publicly available information about the Nigerian student loan scheme. They are not a quotation, an offer, or a statement of your actual loan balance, and they are not financial or legal advice. Rules and amounts can change. Always confirm with NELFUND through the official channels before acting.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
